The post-partum period.
Perineal rehabilitation, breastfeeding, nutrition, taking care of baby & you.
” The postpartum period is a journey that every woman experiences differently. It’s a
time to connect with yourself and your baby, to heal, to grow and to transform”
~ Ariel Kiley
Postpartum care is at the heart of what is known as the postnatal period. This is primarily a period of physical and emotional recovery after childbirth. Women may experience symptoms such as extreme fatigue, pain and mood swings.
Our visits are an opportunity to check that the mother is recovering well physically, that the newborn is adapting correctly, and to receive advice on the day-to-day organisation of life with the baby. The midwife can advise on feeding (both breast and bottle-feeding), hygiene, carrying, contraception, perineum rehabilitation, etc. She also looks after the family’s mental health during this most fragile period.
The postpartum period is one of major transitions, and our midwives are there to help new parents adjust and to provide emotional and practical support in the face of any fears that may arise.
